Inspiring Travels…
After a fantastic two months of jet setting around the world, I am back in full force to the winter ‘wonderland’ that is Wellington.
It seems like only yesterday I was sipping champagne by the pool in Ibiza, eating crispy duck in Beijing and watching Mary Poppins on Broadway. What an amazing inspirational adventure! In fact “Wow... soo inspiring” was mentioned numerous times a day.
There were many visits to see some of the worlds architectural treats from the Bird’s Nest to Guggenheim Museum and the Empire State Building. All of which were amazing! However, I have to say that my absolute favourite was the Barcelona Pavilion by Mies van der Rohe (a building that came to be seen as a seminal example of modern architecture). After years of seeing it in pictures, finally getting to see it in the flesh was magic. The travertine, green marble and onyx and their reflections on the pools were all the more beautiful, and with all the excitement, I even felt a bit teary eyed (that was until my husband sat on one of the al-famous Barcelona chairs and was told off by the ticket lady!).
Never the less... to sum it all up... amazing, amazing, amazing and... I LOVE that NZ is my home.
