After taking the Post Graduate Diploma in Health Facility Planning in 1975 at the Medical Architecture Research Unit, Alan Seelye completed a MPhil Degree in Community Psychiatric Units and stayed in London as a Senior Research Officer at MARU conducting numerous evaluation projects of health facilities. On his return to New Zealand in 1981 Alan Seelye joined Stephenson&Turner New Zealand and became responsible for briefing and detailed planning of health care and related projects. He was appointed a Director of the practice in 1990. During 1993-1995, Alan provided briefing and planning advice to the Works Registrar at the University of Auckland in the rationalisation of space within various departments on the Campus. In 1995, Alan was Director for briefing and design of a new 80-bed health facility for the Pacific Island of Nauru.

Alan's current work includes the new Biotechnology Research Centre on the Thomas Building at the University of Auckland
