Pier B Expansion, Auckland Airport

Pier B is the culmination of four years of planning, design and construction designed to take the Airport into the next decade and beyond. A key component of the project is the specific requirement to accommodate the A380 super-jumbo. The inaugural proving flight by Qantas of its first A380 was timed to coincide with the official opening ceremony. Everything ran to schedule, the building having been handed over two weeks earlier, finishing on time and on budget.

This $40 million project is a major scale change for Auckland Airport, creating the foundation for what will ultimately be a 12-gate pier capable of serving ten A380 super-jumbos at once!
