PricewaterhouseCoopers Tower, Auckland
Stephenson&Turner designed this 33-storey office development for AMP to maximise layout planning efficiency and the outlook for tenants. The building is the recent winner of the Property Council of New Zealand's Award of Excellence, Commercial Office Building category.
PricewaterhouseCoopers Tower features the largest floor plate of any high-rise office building in New Zealand. The column-free typical floors allow very efficient space planning, while the plan form allows views to the harbour, the Waitakeres and North Shore.
The Quay Tower tenants' oblique harbour views to the northeast and northwest were also retained. The façade incorporates the best current glass technology, blind installation and flexible power, data and communications cabling, resulting in energy savings and an interior environment suitable for modern office activities. The podium incorporates foyer and retail spaces, as well as an upgraded pedestrian walkway between the Downtown Shopping Centre and the Downtown Carpark. Artworks enhance the character of the public spaces.
S&T also designed the fire engineering and hydraulics services for all of the building's tenants.
