Six Viaduct Harbour Avenue

This stylish, boutique, low-rise office building was completed in 2001 for Newcrest Holdings Limited. The development is the seventh of a group of similar buildings, linked by an existing, landscaped podium. The building's entrance is a grand introduction to this high- quality commercial site. Its central position creates a classical symmetry, strengthened by its recessed centre section, glazed to full height of thebuilding and flanked by three- storey solid panels. The semi-concealed basement gives the building the visual emphasis of a classical podium, as well as providing space for carparking, freeing up the site for casual pedestrian access and visual connection to the Viaduct Basin.

The first two storeys of the building incorporate semi-circular bays at each end, while the third storey is ecessed, providing a superb terrace overlooking the Harbour. The generous floor-to-ceiling height enhances the elegance and sophistication of the building's interior, and the windows, while glazed with high-performance heat- and glare-reducing glass, are divided in classic proportions with mullions and transoms, further complementing the structure's Edwardian style.

Stephenson&Turner undertook both architectural design and all building services engineering work for the building, including lighting and air conditioning design, for both the base building and its numerous tenancy fitouts.
