Lecture Theatre BLT 100, University of Auckland

This upgrade of lecture theatre BLT 100 in the Biology Building of the University of Auckland was undertaken as part of a campus-wide upgrade of lecture theatres. The fundamental design requirement for the lecture theatre is enabling every student to easily hear and see everything presented in a high-quality environment.

To be able to achieve the above objective and design requirements, a number of services were integrated to provide a good quality environment. These included architectural, audiovisual and lighting services.

This particular theatre is considered to be part of a "historic/heritage" building and thus it was a fundamental of the brief to emphasise some of the existing elements of the theatre that have been retained, whilst not compromising any of the functional lighting design requirements.

This project received an Award of Commendation in the Illuminating Engineering Society of Australia and New Zealand Lighting Awards in 2009.
