Kapiti Health Centre, Paraparaumu
This secondary healthcare facility formed stage one in Capital and Coast District Health Board's Regional Hospital development for the Wellington region. The facility features Maori health, mental health, community health, outpatient, rehabilitation and birthing services.
Built on the site of the old hospital, the building is designed to make the most of mature trees and existing landscaped grounds. The energy-efficient design uses the prevailing wind to ventilate the building as far as possible by natural means, with heating systems enhanced by passive energy design.
