Alan is one of the most experienced architects in health facility and laboratory design in New Zealand. With more than 35 years’ experience, combined with his in-depth understanding of state-of-the-art laboratory functions, he has been responsible for some of New Zealand’s most innovative learning and research facilities.

After taking the Post Graduate Diploma in Health Facility Planning in 1975 at the Medical Architecture Research Unit at the University of North London, Alan Seelye completed a MPhil Degree in Community Psychiatric Units. He continued working as a Senior Research Officer at MARU conducting numerous evaluation projects of health facilities, including Nursing Units, Paediatric Hospitals, CSSDs, OPD Clinics and Community Care Units for the Department of Health and Social Security. 

On his return to New Zealand in 1981 Alan Seelye joined S&T and led the briefing and detailed planning of numerous healthcare and research projects.  Alan held the position of Principal 1990 to 2011.  As Consulting Facilities Planner and Architect Alan now provides overview expertise to S&T’s university, medical research and healthcare projects.
